If you send goods worth more than ₹50,000 in one consignment, the transporter needs an e-way bill. Many businesses make them on the government portal, which means typing the invoice details a second time. Vyapar can create the e-way bill straight from the invoice you already made.
Do you need an e-way bill?
According to Vyapar’s e-way bill guide, you need one when the consignment value is more than ₹50,000, and that limit is based on the invoice value including tax. Some movements need one even below that amount, such as inter-state job work. If you are unsure about your case, ask your accountant; the rules are set by GST law, not by Vyapar.
How long it stays valid
An e-way bill is valid for 1 day for up to 200 km, plus 1 more day for every additional 200 km or part of it. That last part catches people out: 201 km counts as two slabs, so you get 2 days, not 1.
Part A and Part B
Part A holds the invoice details: GSTINs, value, HSN codes and the reason for moving the goods. Part B holds the vehicle number or transporter ID. Goods cannot legally move until Part B is filled in, so if you do not know the vehicle yet, you can come back and complete it later.
Making an e-way bill in Vyapar
Vyapar describes the flow like this:
- Create the sale invoice as usual (our GST invoice guide covers this).
- Choose the e-way bill option for that invoice.
- Add the transport details: transporter, vehicle number and distance.
- Vyapar generates the e-way bill number (EWBN).
- Print it or share it with the transporter.
The first time, you set up e-way bill access in Vyapar’s settings with your GSP login, which links Vyapar to the e-way bill system. Vyapar’s three-minute video walks through that setup, the transport details and cancelling an e-way bill.
Which plan includes it
E-way bills are a paid feature. On the pricing page we checked on 24 September 2026, Silver included 10 e-way bills a month and Gold included unlimited ones. If you move goods every week, that difference alone may decide your plan; see Silver vs Gold.
